The Fishers Tigers traveled to Brownsburg, but couldn’t keep up with the Bulldogs as the Tigers dropped their first HCC game of the season by a score of 42-14. The Bulldogs received the opening kickoff and quickly drove down the field into the Tigers red zone. However, the defense stepped up including a pass breakup at the goal line on 4th down to give the ball back to Fishers. The Tigers would get the drive going and earn a quick first down, but the drive stalled, and the Tigers were forced to punt. Avin Robinson had a big 17-yard reception before Oscar Frye found Brandon Sharpe for a 10-yard touchdown to give the Dogs an early 7-0 lead. The Tigers offense stayed on the field, but a run up the middle was stopped on 4th down to give the ball back to Brownsburg in great field position. As the clock expired to end the first quarter, Aiden Jobe scored on a 5-yard rush to give Brownsburg a 14-0 lead. The Tigers were forced to again punt on their first two drives in the 2nd quarter. The Bulldogs had two separate conversions – one on 3rd down and another on 4th down before Crew Brown scored on a 1-yard dive. After the 2nd Tigers punt, the Bulldogs again put together a quick drive capped off by a 2-yard run by Robinson to push the lead to 28-0. With just over 2 minutes to go in the half, the Tigers would finally get the offense in gear and put together an 80-yard scoring drive. Gage Sturgill found Ryan Thembulembu for a 21-yard gain through the air before Darian Girton took a reverse around the outside for a 32-yard gain. A gutsy 9-yard scramble by Sturgill on 4th down allowed the drive to continue, and Thembulembu finished it with a 2-yard run to make the score 28-7 in favor of the Bulldogs going into the half. The Tigers received the opening kickoff of the 2nd half, but we’re able to keep the momentum going and were forced to punt. Leo McQuillan was able to sneak out of the backfield and Sharpe found him for a 35-yard touchdown. Fishers appeared to have a first down on a pass interference call, but offsetting penalties negated the call and the Tigers again punted. A 22-yard touchdown run midway through the 3rd quarter pushed the lead to 42-7 in favor of Brownsburg and instituted a running clock for the remainder of the game. The Tigers wouldn’t quit and attacked the Bulldogs through the air as Sturgill connected with Rozzi for two passes – one for 34 yards and another for a 47-yard touchdown to make the score 42-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Tigers defense stepped up early in the fourth quarter and forced a punt, but couldn’t take advantage as the Bulldogs picked off Kellan Miller for the Tigers first turnover of the night. However, the Tigers defense again made a nice play as Jordan Kinder stepped in front of the pass and came up with the interception. The clock ran out before the Fishers offense could get going for a final score of 42-14 in favor of Brownsburg.
