The #4 Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team’s (25-6) incredible season came to an end Monday night as they fell 4-3 to the Westfield Shamrocks in the Sectional Final for the 2nd year in a row. This was the 6th Sectional Final that the Tigers have played in the past 8 seasons. The Tigers had the lead the entire game until a 2-out error in the 6th allowed the Shamrocks to push across 2 unearned runs and take the 4-3 lead. The Tigers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Deagan Repp led off with an infield single up the middle. Huston Dunn walked, and Zander Carnahan lined a single to right field to load the bases with no outs. Luke Cherry picked up an RBI when Repp scored on his fielder’s choice. Trevor Hall plated Dunn with an RBI sacrifice fly to right field. The Shamrocks scored 1 in the top of the 4th on a wild pitch to cut the Tigers lead to 2-1, but the Tigers responded right away with another run in the bottom half of the inning when Mayo Fernandez scored from 1st on Carter Strole’s 2-out RBI double to right field. The Shamrocks continued to chip away at the lead scoring a run with 2 outs in the top of the 5th to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Tigers and setting up the Shamrocks opportunity to take advantage of the 2 unearned runs in the 6th to take the lead. Owen Sanders (5-1) earned the loss on the mound, his first lost of the season. Sanders pitched 5.2 innings, allowed 2 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and hitting 2 batters. Reid Garber pitched 0.2 innings of relief, and Owen Lukac recorded 2 outs from the 2 batters that he faced. Carnahan and Fernandez led the Tigers with 2 hits each. One of Carnahan’s hits was a 2-out triple, but he was stranded at 3rd. Strole contributed the RBI double. Repp and Hall each had a single with Cherry and Hall each recording an RBI. The Tigers season ends with 25 wins, the 3rd most wins in school history, and the 2nd best winning percentage of all-time at .806. The 2025 Tigers captured the school’s 4th HCC Championship in the last 8 seasons and reached at least 20 wins for the 6th time in the last 8 seasons and the 8th time in school history.
