The #3 Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (21-4/11-1) clinched at least a share of the HCC Title with a 4-2 win over Franklin Central Flashes. The Tigers scored first in the bottom of the 2nd. Carter Strole knocked a 2-strike, 2-out RBI double to right centerfield to score Trevor Hall, who had walked to lead off the inning. Luke Cherry made the score 2-0 with an RBI sacrifice fly to score Huston Dunn, who was hit by a pitch, stole 2nd, and advanced to 3rd on Zander Carnahan’s infield single up the middle. The Flashes were able to tie the game at 2 in the top of the 6th thanks to 3 walks and 3 wild pitches. But like they’ve done all year, the Tigers continued to fight late in the game. With 2 outs in the 6th, Carter Strole once again doubled to right centerfield. Brady Carman singled to left to score pinch runner Vincent Pecoraro for the go-ahead RBI. After courtesy runner Owen Lukac stole 2nd, Deagan Repp plated Lukac with a single to right for a much-needed insurance run. Jase Ruggles pitched a scoreless 7th and struck out 2 for his 5th save of the season. Starting pitcher Hayden Werner (4-1) pitched 6 innings of 1 hit baseball for the win on the mound. Werner allowed only 1 hit and struck out 3, but walked 6 guys to give the Flashes some traffic on the bases. Strole led the Tigers offense with 2 doubles and an RBI. Repp, Carnahan, and Cherry all had 2 singles. Repp, Cherry, Strole, and Carman each had an RBI. The Tigers return to action on Monday when they host Columbus North at 6:30pm.
