Tigers Varsity Baseball Wins 9-3 at Yorktown

The #3 Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (19-4/9-1) won 9-3 at Yorktown on Monday night. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, scoring 1 run in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, and 3 in the 3rd. Yorktown managed to push across 1 run in each of the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings to keep the game close. With a 5-3 lead, the Tigers exploded for 4 more runs in the top of the 6th inning to blow the game open. Deagan Repp led off the game with a single to right centerfield. Repp later scored on Luke Cherry’s RBI single to left. Jase Ruggles led off the 2nd with an infield single deep in the 6-hole. Carter Strole plated Ruggles with an RBI single down the left field line. The Tigers added 3 runs in the 3rd on 2 hits, 2 walks, an error, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly. Repp singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Trevor Hall picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly, and Ruggles delivered an RBI single. Collin Hebert led off the 6th with a single to right centerfield. Carter Strole followed with a single to left. After a wild pitch put runners on 2nd and 3rd, Justin Brown lined an RBI single to left to score pinch runner Collin Bumps, but Strole was thrown out at the plate. Huston Dunn was intentionally walked and later scored on a passed ball. Zander Carnahan and Trevor Hall added RBI singles. Strole led the Tigers with 3 hits and an RBI. Repp and Ruggles both had 2 hits each. Hall finished with a hit, a sacrifice fly, and 2 RBI. Dunn, Carnahan, Cherry, Hebert, and Brown all contributed a hit, and Carnahan, Cherry, Ruggles, Strole, and Brown each had an RBI. Austin Conley (1-1) started on the mound and earned his first win of the season. Conley pitched 4 innings, allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and hitting 1 batter. Reid Garber pitched 2 innings of relief, allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. Owen Lukac pitched a scoreless 7th inning to seal the victory. The Tigers return to HCC action on Thursday night when they travel to Franklin Central for a 6:30pm start.
