The Tigers and Greyhounds put on a hitting display Monday night. The two teams combined for 15 run, 23 hits, and only 5 strikeouts. The Tigers were down 5-2 with 1 out in the top of the 4th before 5 straight Tigers reached based to tie the game at 5. Carter Strole started the rally with a double into left centerfield. Brady Carman followed with an RBI single to center to score Strole. After Deagan Repp walked, Mayo Fernandez delivered an RBI single to right field to score courtesy runner Owen Lukac. Zander Carnahan followed with an RBI double to right centerfield to score Repp. The Greyhounds responded with 3 runs in the 5th inning to take back the lead 8-5. Just like they have done all year, the Tigers never quit battling. Trevor Hall reached on an error to lead off the 7th. Jase Ruggles laced an RBI single to right past a diving 1st baseman to score Hall. Collin Hebert reached on an error to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs, trailing 8-6. Strole would score Ruggles with an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 8-7 and put the tying run at 3rd. The game ended when Carman ripped a line drive right at the 3rd baseman who was able to beat pinch runner Letrell Robbins back to the bag. Carnahan, Ruggles, and Strole all led the Tigers with 2 hits each. Carnahan had 2 doubles and an RBI. Strole had a double and 2RBI. Fernandez, Hall, and Carman all had a hit and an RBI. Austin Conley started the game on the mound for the Tigers and earned a no decision. Conley threw 3 innings and allowed 5 earned runs on 9 hits and 2 walks. Osney Oberto (0-1) took the loss for the Tigers working 1+ innings in relief, allowing 2 earned runs on 1 hit and 2 walks with 1 strikeout. Quinn Distler threw 2 innings of relief allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits and 1 walk. Distler also had a strikeout. Trevor Hall once again kept the Tigers close by gunning down a runner at the plate to end the 6th inning and give the Tigers momentum heading into the 7th. The Tigers return to HCC play on Wednesday when they host #9 Avon Orioles at 6:30pm.
