The #2 Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (10-2/4-0) took 2-0 into the 5th but fell to #3 Center Grove Trojans 6-2. After a scoreless first 3 innings, the Tigers jumped on the board first with 2 runs in the 4th. Zander Carnahan singled to lead off the inning and advanced to 2nd on Luke Cherry’s sacrifice bunt. After Jase Ruggles walked, Mayo Fernandez lined an 0-2 pitch to left to score Carnahan for the 1st run. Owen Lukac followed with another walk to load the bases. Ruggles scored on the very next pitch, a wild pitch that went to the backstop. With 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Tigers failed to execute a squeeze play for out #2 and then struck out to end the rally. The Trojans responded right away in the top of the 5th. Two singles, an error on a sacrifice bunt, and a 3-run homerun gave the Trojans a 4-2 lead with no outs in the 5th. The Trojans would add 2 unearned runs in the 7th for the final score of 6-2. Austin Conley (0-1) pitched 4 scoreless innings before running into trouble in the 5th. Conley threw 4.2 innings, allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits and struck out 2. Reid Garber pitched the final 2.1 innings allowing 0 earned runs on 3 hits with 1 strikeout. Carnahan led the Tigers offense with 2 hits and a run scored. Fernandez delivered an RBI single. Lukac knocked a double off the right field fence, and Carter Strole contributed a single. The Tigers return to HCC play on Thursday and Friday against #7 Westfield Shamrocks. The Tigers travel to Westfield on Thursday before hosting the Shamrocks on Friday night.
