Runs Hard To Come By In Fishers Varsity Tigers Win Versus Brownsburg Varsity Bulldogs

Both teams were strong in the circle on Thursday, but Fishers Varsity Tigers defeated Brownsburg Varsity Bulldogs 2-1. Joni Oliver started the game for Fishers Varsity Tigers and recorded 18 outs. Fishers Varsity Tigers didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run. A ground out by AG Pogue put Brownsburg Varsity Bulldogs on the board in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Fishers Varsity Tigers went back into the lead after Caroline Thompson singled to center field, and Brownsburg Varsity Bulldogs committed an error, each scoring one run. Joni Oliver earned the win for Fishers Varsity Tigers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered seven hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking two. Etta Schroering took the loss for Brownsburg Varsity Bulldogs. The righty went six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking two. CJ Smock collected the save. Caroline Thompson led Fishers Varsity Tigers with one run batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Adrianne Cook, Anna McGrath, and Caroline Thompson each collected one hit for Fishers Varsity Tigers. Fishers Varsity Tigers turned one double play in the game. Fishers Varsity Tigers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Elizabeth Hammond had the most chances in the field with eight.
