Fishers Varsity Tigers Make A Run Against Franklin Central Varsity Flashes But Fall Short

Despite a 4-run deficit in the first inning, Fishers Varsity Tigers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 8-7 to Franklin Central Varsity Flashes on Wednesday. Fishers Varsity Tigers closed the gap by scoring on a single, a ground out, a single, a solo home run, a single, a single, and a single. Kennedy Shockley collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Kennedy Shockley hit a solo home run to left field in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning, and doubled in the sixth inning. Franklin Central Varsity Flashes got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Mariah Brown tripled, scoring one run, Adalynn Foster singled, scoring one run, and Audrina Yorn singled, scoring two runs. Olivia Starr homered to left field on a full count, which helped Franklin Central Varsity Flashes tie the game at six in the bottom of the fifth. A single by Anna McGrath gave Fishers Varsity Tigers the lead, 7-6, in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Franklin Central Varsity Flashes went back into the lead after Sarah Miller singled to center field, and Brown singled to center field, each scoring one run. Starr earned the win for Franklin Central Varsity Flashes. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none. CJ Smock took the loss for Fishers Varsity Tigers. The right-handed pitcher went five and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out six and walking one. Kiley Renick started in the circle for Franklin Central Varsity Flashes. The hurler gave up six hits and six runs (four earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three.
