The Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (11-12/6-4) jumped out early on Lafayette Jeff Bronchos with 5 runs in the first and cruised to a 10-0 victory in 6 innings on Senior Night. After a quick 1-2-3 inning from starting pitcher Owen Lukac, the Tigers batted around the lineup in the bottom of 1st and scored 5 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, 2 balks, and a wild pitch. Miles Tebben delivered the big blow, a 2-run single to left. Carter Strole also picked up an RBI with an infield single, and David Pina added an RBI groundout. The Tigers scored 1 run on a wild pitch. Once the dust settled in the 1st inning, the Tigers held a 5-0 lead and never looked back. The Tigers extended the lead to 7-0 in the 4th on Pina’s 2nd RBI of the game; this time he plated a runner on a fielder’s choice. Another Tiger run scored on the play when the Bronchos shortstop threw the ball away trying to turn a double play. In the 5th, the first 4 batters reached safely. Andrew Baldini extended the lead to 8-0 with an RBI single to left. Isaac Fernandez picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly to make the score 9-0. The Tigers finally reached the Mercy Run Rule in the 6th. With the bases loaded, Baldini connected on his 2nd RBI single to end the game at 10-0. Lukac (2-3) picked up the win on the mound. Lukac retired 6 of the 7 batters he faced, allowing 1 walk while striking out 2. Jackson Spicer worked a 1-2-3 inning courtesy of Pina back picking the leadoff batter who had reached base on a hit by pitch. Strole pitched 2 innings of scoreless ball, allowing 1 hit and 3 walks while striking out 2. Grant Wolf pitched the final inning. After allowing a leadoff double, Wolf struck out the next 2 batters before ending the inning on a dribbler in front of the plate. The shutout was the Tigers 3rd shutout of the season. The Tigers return to HCC action on Thursday when they host Franklin Central for a 6:30pm start.
