Fishers Varsity Tigers Come Up Short Against Avon Varsity Orioles

Fishers Varsity Tigers lost to Avon Varsity Orioles 6-4 on Wednesday. A single by Kayla Pickering on a full count put Avon Varsity Orioles on the board in the top of the first. Avon Varsity Orioles committed an error, which helped Fishers Varsity Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. An error gave Avon Varsity Orioles the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second. A triple by Grace Walterman gave Fishers Varsity Tigers the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth. Katie Huckaby homered to left field, which helped Avon Varsity Orioles tie the game at three in the top of the sixth. Avon Varsity Orioles took the lead in the top of the seventh. Chloe Stopperich homered to center field, scoring three runs, to give Avon Varsity Orioles the leg up, 6-3. Adrianne Cook hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the seventh for the Fishers Varsity Tigers. Addie Forst earned the win for Avon Varsity Orioles. The pitcher surrendered five hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking five. Bella Balbo took the loss for Fishers Varsity Tigers. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking none. Joni Oliver led things off in the circle for Fishers Varsity Tigers.
