JV1 Red Baseball Fall in Pitcher’s Duel to Carmel, 3–0

By Matt Poisel | May 4, 2026 10:00 PM

The Fishers Tigers JV1 Red (7–6, 5–5 HCC) were edged in a tightly contested pitcher’s duel, falling 3–0 to the Carmel Greyhounds. Despite consistently putting the ball in play, the Tigers managed just one hit on the night. Carmel’s defense proved exceptional, converting nearly every ball in play into an out. Fishers struck out only four times, but the Greyhounds pitcher was highly efficient, facing just four batters over the minimum. Thomas Downey-Underwood turned in a strong performance on the mound for the Tigers, allowing three runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings. He showed excellent command, issuing just two walks—both coming late in his outing. Owen Porter entered in a high-pressure situation with the bases loaded in the sixth and delivered, striking out two batters to keep the Tigers within striking distance. Fishers’ best scoring opportunity came in the third inning. Kellen Miller recorded the team’s lone hit, and Hayden Dowell followed with a walk to put runners on base. The Tigers later loaded the bases, but a ground ball and a strikeout ended the threat. While the Tigers showed solid contact at the plate, they were unable to find gaps against a disciplined Carmel defense.
