The Fishers Tigers JV1 Red (6–5, 4–5 HCC) dropped a hard fought, one run contest to rival Southeastern on Wednesday night, falling 5–4. The Tigers threatened in their final at bat, putting the tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to deliver the decisive hit. Cooper Yeakle got the start on the mound and was dominant early, striking out the side in both the first and second innings for six consecutive strikeouts. Fishers took advantage of that momentum at the plate in the bottom of the second. After back to back singles by Drake Carnahan and Isaac Fernandez, Henry Cherry executed a perfect bunt that forced a Royals error and brought home the game’s first run. Eli Poisel and Preston Tidwell followed with productive groundouts, allowing two more runs to score and giving the Tigers a 3–0 lead after two innings. Southeastern responded in the top of the third. Yeakle issued two walks to open the inning, and a series of defensive miscues by the Tigers allowed the Royals to capitalize. Despite not recording a hit in the inning, Southeastern scored five unearned runs to take a 5–3 lead. Yeakle was tagged with the loss despite an impressive line, throwing three innings without allowing a hit, striking out seven, and surrendering five unearned runs. The Tigers’ bullpen kept the game within reach as Kellen Miller and Poisel each tossed two strong innings of relief. Miller allowed just one hit and struck out one, while Poisel also surrendered only one hit and added two strikeouts. Fishers cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fifth when Cullen Wolf delivered an RBI triple, pulling the Tigers within one at 5–4. Facing their final three outs in the seventh, Fishers mounted one last rally. Pinch hitter Thomas Downey Underwood reached base on an error, and Jackson Pinchouk followed with a walk to put two runners aboard. However, the Tigers were unable to capitalize, and Southeastern held on to secure Game 1 of the series.
