The Fishers Tigers JV1 Red (4–4, 2–4 HCC) offense erupted for a 17–5 victory over the Mt. Vernon Marauders in five innings Tuesday night. The Tigers’ bats came alive early and often, led by Cullen Wolf, who blasted his first home run of the season, and Kellan Ferguson, who drove in six runs. Fishers also applied constant pressure on the base paths, swiping 12 bases in the decisive win. Mt. Vernon jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Tigers responded immediately. Fishers plated five runs in the bottom half, highlighted by Ferguson’s two-run RBI single to tie the game. After the Marauders added two more runs in the top of the second, Fishers again answered. Ferguson delivered once more, ripping a two-run double to give the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish. The Tigers broke the game open in the third inning, scoring six runs. Hayden Dowell started the rally with an RBI single, and Wolf followed with a deep RBI double to right field to extend the lead. Fishers continued to pile on in the fourth. Preston Tidwell led off with a single down the left-field line, then scored on Dowell’s RBI double. After a walk to Jackson Pinchouck, Wolf put the finishing touch on the inning, crushing a three-run homer over the right-field fence to cap the scoring. On the mound, Kellen Miller earned the win in relief, throwing three innings while allowing two runs on five hits. Miller worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning to limit the damage, striking out two without issuing a walk. Isaac Fernandez started the game but did not factor into the decision. Owen Porter closed things out in the fifth, surrendering one run while walking two. Porter did not allow a hit and recorded all three outs via strikeout.
