The Fishers JV2 Silver Tigers (1-5) faced a tough challenge on Thursday, falling 14-1 to Noblesville Millers. Noblesville wasted no time taking control, erupting for a big first inning that set the tone early. A combination of timely hits, walks, and defensive miscues helped the Millers score 7 in the first. They continued the pressure in the second inning, adding four more runs behind several RBI singles to extend their advantage. Despite the early deficit, the Tigers showed some fight. In the bottom of the first, they scored their only run with aggressive baserunning from Dawson Gustin and Nate Birsa to set up an RBI sacrifice fly by Max Bishton to get Fishers on the board. On the mound, Henry Gonso got the start and battled through a difficult first inning. Ryan Storm provided solid relief, working three innings while allowing three runs (two earned) and striking out four to help stabilize things for the Tigers. Defensively, the Tigers struggled to find consistency and were unable to make the routine plays needed to slow down Noblesville’s momentum. A few key errors extended innings and led to additional runs. While there were moments where the defense settled in, overall, it was a tough day in the field that made it difficult to keep the game within reach. The Tigers will look to bounce back in their next matchup in Kokomo as they continue to build and improve throughout the season.
