The Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (4-6/1-2) rallied back to leave bases loaded down 2 in the 7th, but #9 Noblesville stopped the comeback to defeat the Tigers 5-3. The Tigers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as the first 4 batters reached base to start the game. Vincent Pecoraro led off the game with a walk and advanced to 3rd on Ethan Buelt’s double down the left field line. Carter Strole scored Pecoraro with an RBI fielder’s choice when Buelt was out trying to advanced to 3rd. With 1 out, David Pina walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Strole and courtesy runner Carter Davis executed a double steal to put runners on 2nd and 3rd, but the Tigers struck out twice to end the inning. In addition to stranding runners at 2nd and 3rd in the 1st inning, the Tigers would leave the bases loaded a total of 3 other innings throughout the game (2nd, 5th, and 7th). The Millers scored 3 unearned runs in the 2nd inning to take a 3-1 lead and added a run in both the 3rd and 4th innings. The Tigers continued to show grit as they fought back, scoring 1 run in the 5th and another run in the 7th. Both innings ended with the bases loaded. Offensively, the Tigers had 3 hits. Buelt had a double, and Strole and Andrew Baldini both had singles. Strole, Pina, and Parker Congdon each had an RBI. Starting pitcher Owen Lukac (1-2) suffered the loss in 3 innings of work. Lukac allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 5 and walking 5. Jerry Jarmillo pitched 1.1 innings of relief allowing 1 earned run on 1 hit while striking out 1 and walking 4. Grant Wolf came in with bases loaded and 1 out in the bottom of the 5th. Wolf induced a 5u-3 DP to end the inning. He then worked a 1-2-3 6th inning with 2 strikeouts. The Tigers host the same Noblesville Millers on Friday night at home. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
