The Fishers JV Silver Tigers (1-1) showed resilience on Thursday, battling back from an early deficit to earn a 6-5 victory. After falling behind 4-0 halfway through the game, the Tigers continued to compete and used a big fifth inning to flip the game. Fishers fell behind early as defensive miscues and missed opportunities to control the baseball allowed runs to score in each of the first three innings, putting the Tigers in a 4-0 hole. Despite the early deficit, Fishers continued to put together quality at-bats and create traffic on the bases, keeping themselves within striking distance. The Tigers began to build momentum in the middle innings and broke through in a big way in the 5th. Nate Birsa started the rally with a single, followed by Eli Engebretson reaching on an error to bring in a run. After a hit by pitch and a walk loaded the bases, Landon Sanders drew a walk to force in another run and cut the deficit to 4-2. With runners still on, Kellen Battershield came through with the biggest swing of the game, lining a single to bring in three runs and give Fishers a 5-4 lead. Fishers added an important insurance run in the 6th as Birsa singled and later scored on an RBI double from Engebretson to extend the lead. On the mound, Ryan Storm delivered a strong relief appearance, shutting things down over the final innings, while Engebretson came in to secure the save. The Tigers also came up with a key double play defensively by Isaac Repp in RF that helped shift momentum late in the game. Offensively, Birsa led the way going 3-4, while Repp added two hits and the Tigers showed discipline at the plate with six walks. Fishers also applied pressure on the bases with four stolen bases, helping fuel the comeback win.
