The #6 Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (3-4/1-1) spoiled a huge night from Carter Strole at the plate losing to #7 Zionsville Eagles 9-7 and finishing with an HCC series split. Strole finished the night 3-4 with 2 homeruns, including a grand slam, and 6 RBI. Strole opened the night with a solo homerun in the 1st inning to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead. However, the Eagles quickly responded with 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 1st for a 2-1 lead. The Tigers answered back with 2 runs in the 3rd on 4 straight hits to lead off the inning and take a 3-2 lead. Vincent Pecoraro led off the inning with a double down the right field line. Ethan Buelt followed with a single to centerfield to put runners at 1st and 3rd. Strole followed with an RBI single to right field to plate Pecoraro and advanced Buelt to 2nd. David Pina followed with an infield single. Buelt scored from 2nd on the play as the throw to 1st kicked away from the Eagles 1st baseman. Once again, the Eagles quickly erased the Tigers lead by scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 4-3 lead. The Eagles extended their lead to 8-3 in the 5th and added another run in the 6th to take a 9-3 lead into the final frame. The Tigers showed their grit and continued to fight despite the large deficit. Connor Hackworth led off the 7th with a single to left. Andrew Baldini followed with a single to right. With 1 out, Buelt worked a full count walk to load the bases in front of Strole. Strole drove a 1-0 pitch off the scoreboard for a grand slam to cut the deficit to 9-7, but that was the end of the Tigers rally. Strole (1-2) suffered the loss on the mound pitching 4 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 5. Jerry Jaramillo and Jackson Spicer both threw well in relief. The Tigers travel to Mt. Vernon tomorrow for a Saturday DH that begins at 11am.
