The #6 Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (0-1/0-0) held the lead 3 different times vs. #11 Homestead, but could not hold on in the opening game of the 2026 season. The Tigers had a 1-0 lead in the 1st, a 2-1 lead in the 3rd, and a 4-3 lead in the 5th, but ultimately lost to the Spartans 5-4. The Tigers scored 1 in the top of the 1st on David Pina’s RBI groundout after the Tigers loaded the bases with 3 straight walks. The Spartans tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd at 1. Carter Strole lined a double into left centerfield with 1 out in the top of the 3rd. Strole scored later in the inning after an errant throw on Owen Lukac’s fielder’s choice to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. The Spartans responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take the lead again at 3-2. David Pina rallied the Tigers back in front in the top of the 5th with a 2-run homerun off the left field foul pole. However, the Tigers could not hold on to the lead, and the Spartans quickly responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead for good at 5-4. Carter Strole and David Pina led the Tigers offense collecting the Tigers only 3 hits on the night. Strole finished 2-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Pina finished 1-2 with a homerun and 3 RBI. Owen Lukac pitched well in his first start of the season. Lukac pitched 3 innings, allowed 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 1. Strole (0-1) picked up the loss in relief. Strole pitched well enough to win, allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits, while striking out 4. Neither Tiger pitcher allowed a walk, but they were plagued by 4 defensive errors. The Tigers turn their attention to their annual Spring Break Trip to Tennessee. The Tigers will play 2 games on Friday and 2 games on Saturday.
