Fishers High School junior Cooper Zachary has earned Hoosier Crossroads Conference Boys Basketball Athlete of the Year honors, selected by a vote of HCC head basketball coaches. Zachary has been a cornerstone of one of the most dominant runs in program history. He has never lost an HCC regular season game, helping lead the Tigers to three consecutive conference championships and a 25-game HCC winning streak. His postseason résumé is equally impressive — Zachary was part of Fishers' state championship team as a freshman and a state runner-up squad as a sophomore. Individually, he has earned All-HCC recognition in all three seasons, progressing from second team as a freshman to first team honors as a sophomore and junior. This season, Zachary led the conference with 5.3 assists per game while averaging 15.0 points, 2.9 steals, and shooting 92 percent from the free throw line. Midway through his junior year, he had already set Fishers school records in career three-pointers, steals, and assists. His overall record as a starting point guard stands at 83–3. Head coach Garret Winegar offered this: "Cooper is one of the toughest players I have had the privilege to coach. Above all, he is a winner. So much of what he does to impact winning does not show up on the stat sheet. He does more on the floor to impact winning than anyone in the state. On top of everything he does on the floor, he is a great kid, a great leader and a great student."
