The Fishers Tigers were represented by three wrestlers at the IHSAA State Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and the weekend was highlighted by a strong podium finish from senior heavyweight Julian Burgett. Seth Lamb | 120 lbs | Junior Seth Lamb competed at 120 pounds and faced a tough draw in the opening round. Lamb was defeated by technical fall (16-1) by Case Bridge (Avon), who went on to finish as the State Runner-Up. Lamb closes his season with an impressive 37-8 record and valuable state finals experience heading into next year. Camden Funk | 190 lbs | Senior Camden Funk represented Fishers at 190 pounds. Funk was defeated in the first round by major decision (10-0) by Xavior Palacios (Bellmont). He wraps up his senior season with a strong 34-11 record and a state finals appearance to cap his career. Julian Burgett | 215 lbs | Senior | 3rd Place Julian Burgett delivered an outstanding performance at 215 pounds, earning a 3rd-place finish at the State Finals. Burgett opened the tournament Friday night with a major decision victory over Derek Morrison (Wawasee) by a score of 15-1, advancing to Saturday’s quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal round, Burgett earned a win by fall over Jaran Kerney (Princeton) in 5:20 to move on to the semifinals. In the semifinal match, Burgett was defeated by major decision (10-1) by Ceasar Salas (Crown Point), the eventual State Champion. Burgett was awarded a win by forfeit in the consolation round, securing a 3rd-place finish in the state. Burgett closes his senior season with an outstanding 43-4 record. Congratulations to Seth Lamb, Camden Funk, and Julian Burgett on representing Fishers Wrestling at the highest level, and congratulations to Burgett on an excellent 3rd-place state finish to cap his senior season.
