Fishers lost a close three-set battle to visiting No. 2 Yorktown: 31-29, 25-22, 25-23. The Tigers in red were close to taking each of the three sets but ultimately could not close a set.
“We would certainly liked to have closed better tonight,” Fishers Head Coach Steven Peek said. “We will need that skill for the postseason, of course, but I am really proud of the players’ ability to adjust, compete, and just generally play at the highest level in the state tonight.”
Fishers competed extremely well at the net, totaling 12 blocks and 14 other balls blocked back for Yorktown to cover. Seniors Mikayla Christiansen and Grace Dunnuck led the team with six blocks each, and sophomore Ava Vickers was close behind with five.
Seniors Camryn Haworth (12) and Jada Allen (11) led Fishers in kills. Christiansen had nine.
“I loved what our front row did tonight,” Peek said. “To be the best in the state, you have to have a presence at the net. Our front row was aggressive, and our passers did a great job getting our setters in system to run the offense.”
The two Fishers setters, Haworth and sophomore Margo Hernandez, each had 19 assists. Haworth also had 13 digs, while Hernandez had 12.
Junior Samantha Perdue led back row players with 18 digs, and senior Olivia Lux had 14.
Fishers finishes the regular season at Westfield Thursday night, then the Tigers will begin Sectionals versus Noblesville a week later.
