The Fishers Tigers welcomed the 6A #2 Brownsburg Bulldogs for the 2018 homecoming game. The Bulldogs received the opening kickoff, but fumbled on the first play from scrimmage and Geoffrey Brown recovered for the Tigers. The offense couldn’t capitalize as a holding penalty pushed them back and ultimately forced a punt. The Fishers defense again stepped up as Emmanuel Davis stepped in front of a Ben Easters pass and intercepted it, returning the ball to the Bulldogs 1 yard line. Dylan Scally found the end zone to give the Tigers the early 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs answered right back with a methodical 11 play 80 yard drive capped by a Donny Marcus touchdown run to tie the game. The Tigers were forced to punt as the Bulldogs put together a drive to finish the opening quarter.
The Tigers defense stepped up early and often in the 2nd quarter forcing two turnover on downs from the Bulldogs. After the second, play-action by Marcus Roux fooled the defense as he was able to find a streaking Collin Statz down the middle and Statz finished the run to score a 61 yard touchdown to again put the Tigers up 14-7 midway through the 2nd quarter. The Bulldogs again answered right back as Marcus was able to evade a couple tackles and take the ball down to the Tigers 2 before being forced out of bounds. Marcus soon found the end zone, but the PAT was short and the Tigers held a halftime lead of 14-13.
The Tigers got the ball to start the 2nd half, but were ultimately forced to punt early in the quarter. On 3rd and short, Geoffrey Brown again stepped up and literally took the ball away from the quarterback on the sneak up the middle. The Tigers were able to take advantage and kick a field goal to extend the lead to 17-13. The Bulldogs put together another long drive, but the defense had a goal line stand highlighted by some huge plays by the line and the linebackers to give the ball back to the Tigers. However, on the next play, a fumble was forced and recovered in the end zone by Cade Shupperd for a Bulldogs touchdown and the lead.
The Tigers had a nice drive going to start the quarter, but the drive stalled at midfield and the Bulldogs defense forced a turnover on downs. On the 2nd play, Marcus broke loose and scored his third touchdown of the night – this time from 47 yards. The Tigers answered back with a scoring drive of the own highlighted by a nice catch and run from Collin Statz. After being stopped on 3rd down, the Tigers had to settle for the field goal to bring the score to 27-20 in favor of Brownsburg. A beautiful onside kick was recovered by Jackson Dunn, but the Tigers were unable to move the ball and had to punt with just under 6 minutes left in the game. Brownsburg wasn’t able to do anything and punted back to Fishers with less than 4 minutes remaining. Ultimately the Tigers turned the ball over on downs after Statz couldn’t haul in an amazing pass and Brownsburg was able to run out the clock.
