The Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball team (15-16/7-7) saw their season come to end Wednesday night with a 5-1 loss to Westfield Shamrocks in the Noblesville Sectional. After 8 pitches and 3 Shamrock batters, the Tigers found themselves down 3-0 and could never recover.
Tristan Baker (3-3) started for the Tigers and gave up 5 earned runs on 6 hits in 1.1 innings of work. Baker had only allowed 9 earned runs in 7 starts during the regular season. Jon Vore pitch great in relief holding the Shamrocks scoreless on 1 hit in 5.2 innings, while striking out 5.
The Tigers struggled all game to get a big hit with runners in scoring position. The Tigers had runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out and 1st and 3rd with 2 outs in the 3rd inning, but could not score. Kaid Muth led off the 4th inning with a double and advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, but the next 3 Tiger batters could not score him. After another Muth double in the 6th inning, the Tigers had runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and could not score.
The lone Tiger run came on a 2-out solo homerun in the 2nd inning by Daniel Owens, his 1st homerun of the year. Muth contributed the 2 doubles, as the Tigers could only muster 3 total hits.
The loss ended the season for the Tigers with a 15-16 record. The Tigers finish with a losing record for only the 3rd time in the last 9 years, and the 1st time in the last 4 seasons.
