The Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball team (6-9/2-4) lost Game 2 at Westfield by a score of 7-1.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first. Collin Shelton reached on an error. He later stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on a passed ball. Kiel Brenczewski walked on the passed ball pitch to put runners at 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. Tristan Baker, who was the courtesy runner for Brenczewski, stole 2nd base as Shelton raced home on the throw to 2nd for the Tigers only run of the night.
The Tigers were held hitless until the 4th inning when JP Preston was able to drop a ball into shallow right centerfield over the head of the 2nd baseman. Preston, Grant Whetsel, and JJ Woolwine provided the only 3 hits for the Tigers.
Starting pitcher Anthony Castellani (0-2) suffered the loss on the mound. Castellani retired the first 6 batters to start the game before allowing 3 earned runs in the 3rd inning. The Tigers allowed 3 unearned runs in the 4th inning on 2 defensive errors. Daniel Owens pitched well in relief. Owens did not allow a run or a hit in 1.1 innings of work.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host Pendleton at 6pm.
