The Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball team (13-14/6-6) fought to the final out, but fell short against #4 Columbus North Bulldogs losing 8-7. The Tigers had the tying run at 3rd and the winning run at 2nd with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th, but could not push across any more runs.
Nick Lukac led the way for the Tigers with 2 hits and 3 RBI on the night. Dom Oliverio delivered an RBI double, and Daniel Owens added an RBI single. Grant Whetsel also had 2 hits on the night and scored twice, and Kiel Brenczewski contributed a double of his own.
Anthony Castellani (1-4) pitched well against a very good hitting Bulldog lineup. Despite the crooked numbers on the scoreboard, Castellani often minimized the damage with strikeouts or weak contact to end innings. Overall, Castellani allowed 5 earned runs on 12 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Daniel Owens pitched the 7th inning allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits with 1 strikeout.
The Tigers return to action Tuesday night when they host 3A #6 Benton Central at 6pm.
