So the Silver Lady Tigers took to the turf to have another crack at the visiting HSE Royals. The ladies came out a little flat, but quickly made improvements when HSE made some shots on goal. To make them a little nervous Ashley Rettig found herself with a wide open shot about 25 yards out and let one rip. It floated in and rebounded off the top rail. Emma Gellenbeck made runs up the side and tracked down Royals to win back the ball. Emily Brandenburg worked her skill in the middle and pushed teammates into the attacking third. Avery Wegner did a great job of distributing the ball and diffused the Royal attack. Jessica Halamka got the starting nod in goal and did a great job of keeping the ball out of net. Ella Voight and Jaclyn Frey worked well in the back line to shut down the Royal standouts. With 15 minutes on the clock Taylor Hamilton had a break away and collided with the charging goalie. The ball deflected off the goalie and ended up behind her. Taylor got a jump on her and found herself with the ball and an open goal. With poise and precision, Taylor placed the ball into the net. The Royals fought back, but the defense held until the half.
Second half started with a more motivated Tiger team. Rachael Fulton put pressure up top. Naveah Repp was solid on the wing, as a #9 and back in defense. Mackenzie Pope was a brick wall to the Royal attack. Hannah Moore was successfully irritating to the Royal winged attack and made penetrating runs toward their goal. Hannah Geske used her skill and vision to avoid losing possession and setting up her teammates for scoring opportunities. Olivia Young did a fabulous job of stagnating the Royal attack. Kristen Rummel used her pace to keep the Royal defenders busy. Maria Okuszki did a good job of protecting the goal. In the end on a Royal corner, the Tigers allowed a ball to skim past the front of the goal and the Royals nailed into the back of the goal. Next game against Zionsville, there. Peace, out!
