The Fishers Lady Tigers improved to 23-1 and earned the school’s 2nd Sectional Title on Saturday night defeating the Hamilton Southeastern Royals 50-42.
It did not look good for the Tigers early, as they found themselves down 21-5 midway through the 2nd quarter. But, this team never quits and went on a 9-2 run to close out the half and continued that run by scoring the first 8 points of the second half. With one quarter to go, the Tigers were down just 3. Senior Tamia Perryman took over in the 4th quarter scoring 14 of her team high 18 points, including going 4-4 from beyond the arc and Katie Burton went 6-6 from the line in the final minutes to seal the victory. Perryman also grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Burton finished with 14 points. Freshman Hailey Smith added 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
The Tigers have now set the school record for wins in a season (23) and will advance to the Marion Regional where they will play Northwestern. Tip time is 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 15th.
