The muggy meter was stifling but the Silver Lady Tigers still welcomed the Zionsville Eagles to FHS. The ladies came out strong and commanded the field from the start. Tessa Pettygrove battled on the wing. Samira Lee worked her magic on the opposite side. At 21 minutes Caydence Wood got a perfect feed from Maddie Poppe and put the Tigers up one. The Eagles made attempts to swoop in for the equalizer, but Taylor Gerardot and Brooklyn Ferrell we’re not having it. Rylan Christianson challenged the nest to add to the score. At 14 minutes Olivia Weyer found herself in front of an open net and put the Lady Tigers up 2. The Eagles worked to gain some ground, but Tseganesh Gregg and Jaidin Millsaps were on the prowl to regain possession. At 13 minutes Maddie Meier had an open look from 25yds out and beautifully placed a ball over the goalie into the net. Eliza Uliczny had some great saves and distributed efficiently to the Tigers. The first half ended with Tigers up 3, but the second was going to be the tale of two teams. Ashley Jackson and Riley Brinson did their part and shut down the “winged” attack (good pun). Lexie Pritchett kept pushing into striking distance. Reagan McMullen fought hard with Eagle attackers. The Eagles got a goal back and then the Tigers lost their composure. Gia Tumber kept the hope alive by challenging the Zionsville back line on numerous occasions. Sarah Bennett did her best to protect the rectangle. Anna Williams played a higher line and threatened the Eagles defense. Alexa Denney finished out the game in goal. The Tigers experienced a different team in the second and scrambled to make adjustments. The ladies held off the barrage to settle for a tie. Next game is 9/2 at Noblesville. Stay safe!
