The Fishers Tigers JV Red team (4-7/1-4) ran into a great pitching performance by the Westfield Shamrocks and dropped the first game of the conference series by a score of 6-1. The Tigers had only 2 hits on the night as Rocks starter Gage Stanifer threw a complete game against the Tigers.
Zach Pearson took the loss for the Tigers on the mound. Pearson went 4.0 innings and gave up 5 runs on only 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4 batters. With runners at 1st and 2nd and 2 outs, Pearson appeared to record the strike out to end the scoring threat, but two consecutive pitches were just outside of the strike zone. The Shamrocks ended up turning this and a subsequent walk into a run followed by a two-run single.
The Tigers were not able to get guys on base consistently throughout the game. Jack Braun had the only two hits of the game for the Tigers. His first hit was a single down the right field line that Braun tried to turn into a double only to be thrown out with a perfect throw from the right fielder. Braun did double in the top of the 7th inning to score Joey Brenczewski.
The Tigers and Shamrocks look to finish their series over the next three days as weather looks to impact those plans.
