The Fishers Tigers JV Red team (3-6/1-3) couldn’t keep up with the hot bats of the Noblesville Millers as the Tigers fell by a score of 17-5 on Saturday afternoon. The Millers were able to collect 15 hits and 9 Tiger errors aided in the lopsided score.
Jack Backofen collected 2 hits on the day along with an RBI and a run scored. Zach Cox tripled late in the game as the Tigers tried to mount a comeback before the Millers would eventually score 8 in the top of the 7th inning to skew the final margin. Riley Padron had 2 RBIs and Mason Sweeney was active on the base paths as he stole both 2nd and 3rd base before ultimately scoring.
JP Preston took loss on the mound for the Tigers. Preston was hit in the ankle on a comebacker on the first pitch of the game, but would fight through and provide the Tigers with 2 innings of quality pitching. Cox also provided 2 innings of quality relief as he only allowed 1 hit while striking out 2 Millers.
The Tigers host Mt Vernon on Tuesday night before beginning the next conference series with the Westfield Shamrocks on Wednesday.
