On a hot a muggy evening the Silver Lady Tigers began their 2018 campaign. At the friendly confines of Tiger Stadium the lady stood opposite the alway dominating Noblesville Millers. On this night the Lady Tigers had decided no more. Emily Brandenburg made some threatening runs into the final third and had some great physical play against the Millers back line. Avery Weneger did her magic in the middle and kept Dani Joseph supplied with penetrating runs. The duo of Ashley Rettig and Hannah Geske controlled the possession in the Midfield. The back line of Mackenzie Pope, Ella Voight, Navaeh Repp and Jaclyn Frey kept the Millers attack in control. Olivia Young stepped in to give needed rest to the defenders and held her own. Maria Okuszki guarded the white rectangle fearlessly. The ladies came off the field tired but enthusiastic that they were holding the Millers scoreless. The second half started with rested legs and a “get after it attitude”. Kristen Rummel kept the Noblesville defenders busy on the wing while Taylor Hamilton was able to shake off some defenders and slip one past the goalie. With plenty of time left for a counter attack the Tigers got back to work. Hannah Moore’s skillful play allowed Emma Gellenback to make the Millers nervous. Rachel Fulton stepped into the middle and broke the Millers attack. With the minutes counting down and several Miller attacks at our goal, Jessica Halamka showed great confidence. Still nervous and time for Millers to level the field Dani Joseph got a cross in front of the Miller goal and in the confusion of bodies and feet a another ball rolled into the net. Great start to our season. Next game Wednesday at Westfield. Go Tigers
