The Fishers Varsity Boys Basketball team beat Pendleton Heights on Friday evening by a final score of 55-48 and in the process tied the 2012-2013 Tigers for the most wins in a season in program history with 15.
From the tip, the Tigers were locked-in and it was evident by their suffocating defensive pressure which forced the visiting Arabians into 6 turnovers in the 1st quarter as Fishers took a commanding 13-4 lead into the 2nd period. In the 2nd, Pendleton Heights would chip away at the lead outscoring the Tigers 17-16 in the quarter but Fishers would go into the break with a 29-21 advantage. Coming out of the half, the Arabians would continue to eat into the lead as the Tigers struggled to get defensive stops allowing Pendleton to make it a 1 possession game going into the final quarter of play up just 41-38. However, in the 4th quarter Fishers would right the ship on the defensive end holding on for the next in 55-48 to move to 15-6 on the season with 2 games to play before the postseason. Leading the way for the Tigers was Junior sharpshooter Alex Szilagyi with 15 points followed by Josiah Matthews with 12 points and Jeffrey Simmons added 12 points respectively.
Fishers is back at home next Friday, February 15 when they host HCC Conference rival Zionsville with a share of the Conference championship on the line with tip-off at 7:30 pm.
