The Fishers Varsity Boys Basketball team lost to FW Snider this past Saturday by a final score of 64-59.
With redemption on their minds the Tigers headed North this past weekend looking to avenge last years home defeat but instead found themselves in yet another battle with the unlikely rival Panthers. In last years 63-61 loss, Fishers led for most of the game before Snider took the lead in the final minutes and this years matchup played out eerily similar despite the Tigers coming up on the wrong side of the win/loss column. The Panthers took the lead from the tip and they would really never look back they as led 17-9 after the 1st quarter of play. In the 2nd quarter, Fishers would take advantage from the foul line connecting on 9 of 10 from the stripe in the period cutting the Snider lead to just 7 heading into the half down 34-27. Unfortunately, the slim 7 point margin would prove to be more than enough for th host Panthers as the Tigers were only able to muster a mere 2 point advantage the rest of the way as they lost for the first time in 4 games. Pacing the Fishers offensively was Willie Jackson with 19 points followed by Jeffrey Simmons with 13 points, Josiah Matthews with 12 points, and Alex Szilagyi chipped in 10 points respectively.
The loss moves the Tigers to 13-6 on the season with just 4 games remaining on the year.
Up next, Fishers heads back home to take on their fellow Sectional #8 foe Anderson Indians on Tuesday, February 5 with tip-off at 7:30 pm.
