The Fishers Varsity Boys basketball team defeated Kokomo in the first semifinal game of the Lebanon Holiday Tournament by a final score of 65-57.
The Tigers got off to a fast start in the 1st quarter as they opened up an early lead on the back of some hot shooting but the Wildcats would keep the score close with some strong offense of their own as Fishers by only a possession at 16-13 after the first period. However, the Tigers were able to sustain their momentum in the 2nd quarter as they pushed the lead to double digits heading into halftime up 29-16. Coming out of the break, it was Kokomo whom would capitalize on their halftime adjustments as they forced Fishers into numerous turnovers swinging the tide in their favor using a 17-12 run over the period to cut the deficit to 41-33 going into the final quarter of play. In the 4th quarter, the two teams would trade blows matching each other basket for basket which ultimately allowed the Tigers to keep the Wildcats at bay en route to a 65-57 victory sending Fishers to the Championship game. Leading the way for the Tigers was Freshman phenom Jeffrey Simmons with 17 points and 9 rebounds followed by Terry Hicks with 16 points and Josiah Matthews chipped in 13 points respectively.
