The Fishers Varsity Boys Basketball team took 1st place in the Lebanon Holiday Tournament over the weekend beating Perry Meridian in the Championship game by a final score of 54-44.
As they had done in both of the previous two Tournament games, the Tigers came out hot as they once again ran out to an early lead taking a 15-11 advantage through the 1st period of play. In the 2nd quarter, Fishers would continue to impose their will on both ends of the court extending their lead to 32-21 going into the intermission. In the 2nd half, the young and upcoming Falcons would actually outscore the Tigers 23-22 overall but it would be too little, too late as Fishers would hang on for the 54-44 win capturing their 1st Holiday Tournament Title in program history while also setting a new program record with their 7th consecutive victory as they moved to 9-3 on the season through 12 games. Leading the way for the Tigers was Senior guard Willie Jackson with 15 points followed by fellow Senior guard Josiah Matthews who added 11 points.
The Tigers are in action again next Friday, January 4 when they open the new year on the road against the highly ranked Pike Red Devils with tip-off at 7:30 pm.
