The Fishers Tigers traveled to Avon to face the host Orioles in an HCC matchup. Both offenses scored on their first possession, but Avon’s offense continued to stay hot throughout the game. Lucas Prewitt pass for over 200 yards for the Tigers as Jeffrey Simmons and Landon Morris both had big games for the Tigers. Oriole quarterback Henry Hesson was up to the task as he passed for 295 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Both teams offenses started fast to begin the game. Avon drove down the field including a 4th down conversion before Henry Hesson found Remington Gall for a 5 yard touchdown. The Tigers answered right back with a fast drive down the field as Lucas Prewitt found Landon Morris on a great catch and run for a 43 yard touchdown. Avon found the end zone two more times in the quarter. Hesson scrambled to his right and connected with Wallace Stovall in the back of the end zone. Later in the quarter Carmelo Mitchell took a sweep 77 yards to make the score 21 – 7 after the 1st.
The Tigers were forced to punt twice early in the 2nd quarter and the Orioles took advantage of both. Hesson found Joe Hall for a 15 yard touchdown and Mitchell took another sweep for a 1 yard score. The Tigers put together a nice drive late in the 2nd quarter and Prewitt made a great pass that was hauled in by Silas Martin. On the first play after the kickoff, Hesson found Hall again who was able to pull away from the defense to make the halftime score 42 – 14 in favor of Avon.
The Tigers received the ball to begin the 2nd half but were forced to punt after a penalty negated a big gain. Avon capitalized as Hesson again found Gall to push the score to 49 – 14 in favor of the Orioles. Neither offense was able to get much going for the remainder of the game as a running clock was used.
The Tigers travel to Franklin Central next week.
