The Fishers JV Boys Basketball team ended their season on a high note this past Wednesday beating host Kokomo by a final score of 53-34.
While the JV season as a whole may not have gone exactly to plan the boys did wrap up their 22 game schedule with their season-best 5th straight win with possibly their best overall team effort of the year as all 12 players scored at least 2 points in a game that was never really close after the Tigers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. In the 1st quarter, Fishers imposed their will early and often forcing the Wildcats into 5 turnovers as the Tigers ran out to a 15-7 advantage after the first period. Fishers carried that momentum over into the 2nd quarter as they extended their lead heading into halftime up 31-15. After the break, the Tigers would maintain their stranglehold on the hosts further pushing their lead to 44-20 by the end of the 3rd quarter which allowed Coach Q. Owens to get some playing time for the recently moved up Freshman whom would play the entire 4th quarter and in impressive fashion to boot although the Wildcats did outscore Fishers over the final six minutes of play but it wouldn’t be nearly enough as the Tigers won going away 53-34 to finish their year at a seasons-best 6 games above .500 at 14-8 going 5-0 over the month of February. As previously noted, all 12 players chipped in at least 2 points with Sophomore Max Wuensch leading the charge with 7 points and 3 steals followed by fellow Sophomores Isaac Bowman and Ricardy Elie and Freshman Josh Forbes whom all added 6 points a piece respectively.
While the JV season has wrapped up the Varsity is in action again this Tuesday as they face the Anderson Indians in the second quarterfinal of Sectional #8 at Carmel High School with tip-off set for 8:00 pm.
