The Fishers JV Boys Basketball team beat Ft. Wayne Snider in the opening game of last Saturday’s matinee by a final score of 53-43. In one of their best performances during this tough second half stretch the visiting Tigers trailed for only a few brief minutes early on before ratcheting up the defensive pressure and forcing the Panthers to play on their heels. The hosts jumped out to an early lead taking a 12-11 advantage into the 2nd quarter but it would be their last lead of the game as Fishers used a strong period of play to run out to a 24-18 lead heading into halftime. In the 2nd half, the Tigers kept their foot on the gas pushing their lead to 10+ before a late Snider rally cut the deficit once more 4 points going into the final quarter of play at 36-32. However, the Fishers defensive effort would prove to be too much to overcome as the Tigers slowly milked the game away from the FT line in the waning minutes prevailing 53-43 for their 10th win of the season as they now stand at 10-8 overall. Leading the way for Fishers was once again Freshman Charlie Smith with a game and season-tying high 19 points and 7 rebounds and Bryce Williams chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Max Wuensch provided a strong presence off the bench adding 8 points and 2 steals.
Fishers is back at home when they host the Anderson Indians this Tuesday, February 5 with tip-off at 6:00 pm.
