The Fishers JV Boys Basketball team extended their season long 4-game win streak beating Pendleton Heights last Friday evening in the night’s opener.
Fishers continued their strong play over the past 2 weeks with yet another gritty team defensive effort starting from the tip as they charged out to an early 17-10 lead after the 1st quarter. The visiting Arabians countered with a momentum shifting run which lasted nearly the entire 2nd quarter as they quickly evened the score up before taking the lead outright for the first time in the game right at the halftime buzzer up 27-25. Coming out of the intermission, the Tigers were able to make the necessary adjustments once again locking Pendleton Heights down taking the lead back in the course by the end of the period at 35-32. Fishers would not relent on the defensive end over the final 6:00 minutes of the game grinding out a 51-40 victory and putting themselves a season best 4 games over .500 at 12-8 with only 2 games remaining in the JV season. For the 3rd time in 4 games, Freshman Charlie Smith led the Tigers with 15 points and 7 rebounds including a perfect 6-6 from the FT line, all coming in the 2nd half helping to push the game out of reach. Rounding out the Fishers attack was Drew Turner with 9 points and 4 steals, and Freshman newcomer Josh Forbes with 6 points and 2 assists off the bench, respectively, however this was a total team effort as 8 Tiger players scored at least 2 points in the game.
Fishers completes the HCC Conference season on Friday, February 15, when the conference leading Zionsville Eagles come to town with tip-off at 6:00 pm.
