The Tigers Varsity Boys Basketball team was in action over the Holiday Break competing in the Lebanon Holiday Classic where they faced the Gary 21st Century Charter Cougars. In the 1st quarter, the Tigers jumped out on the Cougars and took an early leading 19-15 at the end of the quarter. During the 2nd quarter, the Cougars made a run to tie the game up with a score of 38-38 at half time. Coming into the 3rd quarter, both teams continued to battle back and forth. The Tigers held on to a one-point lead, ending the quarter 58-57. In the 4th quarter, the Tigers could not pull away and the game was tied 77-77 at the end of regulation. In the overtime quarter, FHS came away with the hard fought victory, sealing the game with a score of 88-86. Tigers were led in scoring by Jeffrey Simmons who had 23 points. He also grabbed 13 rebounds and had 5 blocks. Senior Willie Jackson chipped in with 21 points, Josiah Matthews had 14 points and Alex Szilagyi added13 points in the contest. Terry Hicks had 10 points. The Tigers are now 7-3 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Tigers are back in action on the road to play in the 2nd round of the Lebanon Holiday Classic to face the Kokomo WildKats on Saturday December 29th with tip-off at 10:00am.
