Fishers JV Silver (10-7-1/3-4-1) beat Noblesville in the championship game of the Freshman Invitational Baseball tournament.
Noblesville scored 1 run in the 1st inning. Down 1-0 in the 2nd inning, the Tigers pushed their first run across the plate. James Gibbs singled and was moved to second by a Joey Wilmoth single. Tate Warner would then plate Gibbs with a single.
Fishers took the lead in the 4th inning adding one more run. Joe Hietpas singled and then stole second base to get into scoring position. Warner would get his 2nd RBI of the game with his 2nd single of the game. The Tigers lead was short lived when Noblesville scored in the top of the 5th inning to even the score at 2-2.
The Tigers offense came alive in their half of the 5th inning scoring 4 runs. Collin McPeek, Hietpas, Curtis Kearschner all singled in the inning with Cody Thomas reaching on an error. Kyle Jankowski and Gibbs both had sacrifice flies.
Warner and Hietpas led the Tigers with 2 hits apiece and Warner led Fishers with 2 RBI’s.
Warner also started on the mound. He allowed 2 hits over 5 innings of work and allowed 2 unearned runs to earn the win. Cody Jones pitched 2 great innings of relief, striking out 4.
