The Fishers Freshman Football team ended their season with a dominating 41-14 win against the Zionsville Eagles. Fishers got off to a quick start with their first possession of the game ending in a Jackson Preston quarterback sneak for a touchdown. The Fishers defense let up an early score but held strong on the 2 point conversion to bring the score to 7-6. From that point on, it was all Tigers. Dominic Oliverio scored twice in the second quarter from 18 yards out and 10 yards out. The Tiger defense also forced two turnovers during this quarter with a Joey Brenczewski interception and a fumble caused by Caleb Vander Kamp and recovered by Tyton Kramer. The Tigers went in at halftime up 20-6.
The third quarter saw the Tigers increase their lead with a 17 yard touchdown pass from Jackson Akers to Greer Desabatine. The fourth quarter was full of action as the Tigers scored two more touchdowns and the Fishers defense forced two more turnovers. Peyton Doty picked off the Zionsville quarterback and returned it down to the Zionsville 4 yard line. Jathan Willis scored the very next play on a 4 yard touchdown run. Later in the 4th Antonio Averhart took a run 53 yards for the score. Zionsville was able to score once more to bring the score to 41-14, but the Tiger defense ended the game forcing another Zionsville turnover with Cody Thomas forcing the fumble and Michael Schnurr with the recovery.
Many other Tigers contributed to the great win. Joe Hietpas added on 5 extra points. Colin McPeek had numerous catches and big plays allowing the Tigers to continue their drives. Evan Miller and Jack Alvarez had many tackles and big hits on the day.
The Freshman ended their season with an overall record of 4-4-1 and a 4th place finish in the conference. Congrats to the Tigers on a great finish to the season. Go Tigers!
