The Tigers Varsity Boys Basketball team was in action Friday night on the road to face their second conference opponent this week, the Avon Orioles. In the 1st quarter, both teams battled back and forth and ended the quarter tied 13-13. In the 2nd quarter, the Tigers separated themselves from the Orioles by 5 points, ending the quarter with the Tigers ahead 29-24. In the 3rd quarter, the Tigers stepped up their defensive intensity and held Avon to just 7 points in the quarter. The Tigers grew their lead to 8 points and at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Tigers led with score of 39-31. In the 4th quarter, FHS put together a 25-point quarter and sealed the victory over the Orioles with a final score of 64-39. Terry Hicks led the Tigers in scoring with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jeremy Szilagyi chipped in with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Alex Szilagyi added 10 points in the contest. Willie Jackson contributed with 9 points. Josiah Matthews added 7 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. The Tigers are now 7-7 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. The Tigers are back in action on the road to face the Lawrence North Wildcats on January 26th with a 7:30 pm tip-off.
