Tigers News · Announcement for Tiger Athletes and Parents – 2020-21 Athletics

Tiger Athletes and Parents,

As we approach the end of the 19-20 academic school year, it is important that we are all on the same page for summer and fall activities for the 2020-21 school year.

At this time, all Fishers HS athletic events (camps, contests, practices) are suspended through June 30th per the recent announcement from our State Superintendent of Instruction, Dr. Jennifer McCormick. This includes activities on and off campus.

The IHSAA recently announced that due to the prolonged period away from interscholastic sports, the 2020 IHSAA Moratorium week would be waived. Traditionally, the week that includes the July 4th holiday is considered the IHSAA Moratorium week (Rule 15-3), prohibiting school-sponsored athletic events during that week.  This waiver allows Indiana schools to begin offering athletic practices starting on July 1st instead of the initial July 6th date.

It is important to note that this announcement from the IHSAA is not a guarantee for sports participation to begin.  The IHSAA is operating within their By-Laws and this announcement is simply a temporary lift of Rule 15-3.

As an athletic department, we will continue following the guidance from Governor Holcomb, Dr. McCormick, IHSAA, Mayor Fadness, and the HSE School Corporation Administration.

We have asked our coaches to prepare and plan for activities after the July 1st date with optimism and caution.  Returning athletes to our facility is exciting, but it will occur at the appropriate time and with preparation and execution that follows the recommended protocols and safety guidelines.

Below are two links provided by the IHSAA that speak to the Moratorium Week and the Participation Physical for 2020-21.

Note: If you had a completed IHSAA Physical Form for the 2019-20 school year, it will be accepted for the 2020-21 school year.  If you are an incoming freshman and your physical was turned into one of the Jr. Highs, it will be accepted as long as it was on the IHSAA Form.  We will work with the Jr. Highs to secure the original copy.

Note: All athletes will need to complete new digital forms before participation.  These forms are available at Register an Athlete for Sports

We miss the energy that all of our athletes bring to the culture of Fishers High School and we look forward to their return.

If you have any questions in regard to summer / fall participation, please contact us via email.

We thank all of you for your passion and understanding,
