Tigers News · 2020 Spring Sport Outlook – Girls Track & Field

Tiger Fans

We are saddened that the COVID-19 situation eliminated the opportunity for our spring athletes to represent the Tigers in competition.  Many athletes lost the ability to pursue their goals as a team and individual.  In effort to highlight the optimism that we had for our spring athletes, we will be sharing a pre-season highlight written by our spring coaches.  Tigers, are thoughts are with you!

2020 Girls Track & Field

The 2020 Fishers Girls Track and Field team has the potential to be the best team in program history.

The team returns multiple All-State athletes from the 2019 season, including junior Alison Casey, who earned All-State honors by placing 5th in the State in the pole vault last year.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team returns all four members (seniors Abby Carter and Emma Gillespie and sophomores Vera Schafer and Elizabeth Barrett) from the team that earned All-State honors by placing 5th in the State last year.  Vera Schafer was also an individual State qualifier in the 800 meter run.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team returns three members (sophomore Ella Scally, junior Myah Donaldson, and senior Gabby Lewis) from the team that earned All-State honors by placing 9th in the State last year.   Ella Scally returns as the team’s overall leading scorer from 2019, when she also qualified for State in three individual events (the long jump, the 100 meter dash, and the 200 meter dash).  Myah Donaldson was a regional qualifier in the 100 meter dash, while Gabby Lewis was a regional qualifier in the 200 meter dash.

Senior Tamia Perryman returns as a six-time State medalist in the sprints.  Other athletes expected to play a big role in the success of the sprinters includes senior Arianna Kelley, who was a regional qualifier in the 300 meter hurdles, as well as junior Evelyn Butler, who was a regional qualifier in the 400 meter dash.  Senior Lilia Bodnar, junior Morgan Lacy, junior Chloe Schroeder, junior Ana Camorlinga, sophomore Kate Baumgartner, sophomore Aubrey Baldwin, and freshman Kya Hoskins are expected to have a big impact this season in the sprint events.

In the distance events, Senior Johanna Strueder was a regional qualifier in the 3200 meter run, while senior Abby Carter and sophomore Elizabeth Barrett were regional qualifiers in the 1600 meter run.  Senior Corinne Yorkman was a regional qualifier in three events in 2018.  Juniors Brynn Urban and Mia Yates, along with sophomores Megan Mybeck and Anna Runion also look to have breakout seasons in the distance events.

In the field events, Ella Scally (long jump) and Tamia Perryman (high jump) look to have a huge impact in the jumps.  They are joined by freshman Savannah Strange and junior Sarah Reddan in the high jump, along with Kya Hoskins and senior Daisia Guzman in the long jump.  Senior Lauren Bryant looks to have a fantastic senior season in the pole vault.  In the throws, freshman Grace Carroll and junior Kenadi Jumper all are looking forward to great seasons.

Team Captains for the 2020 girls track team include Seniors Abby Carter, Logan Sorrell, Kerrigan Rush, and Gabby Lewis, as well as juniors Alison Casey and Kaylin Hoover.

The girls track program wants to thank its seniors for all they have done for this program.  We wish them the best of luck as they move on to future endeavors!
