The Tigers Unified Track and Field team completed their season with a very strong performance Saturday in Bloomington at the Unified Track State Finals, earning a 6th place finish with 90 points in a very deep field. This was the Tigers’ 2nd straight appearance in the State Finals and third time in the last four years. The Tigers capped off their best season in which they won titles at County, Conference and Sectionals and a 3rd place finish at Regionals.
Scoring for the Tigers in the long jump were: Rebecca Lewis (1st in flight 4, PR 13-10.5), Ariana Wills (3rd in flight 3, PR 14-4), Kellen Bridgeforth (7th in flight 3) and Colin Schooley (7th in flight 5). Earning points in the shot put were: Chloe White (1st in flight 5, 22-11.75), Josh Ibey (4th in flight 1), Evan Barker (4th in flight 2, PR 35-02), Jack Smith (5th in flight 2).
In the 100m, the Tigers received points from: Nathan Oman (1st in heat 3, 12.88), Sam Syrus (4th in heat 1, PR 11.96), Colin Schooley (4th in heat 6) and Matt Kiffmeyer (7th in flight 5). Scoring in the 400m were: Sam Syrus (2nd in heat 1, PR 53.51), Carter Gordon (4th in heat 4), Conner Babcock (7th in heat 1, 56.64) and Nick Taulman (7th in heat 3).
The Tigers’ boys 4×100 team finished 4th in the fast heat (AJ Valerio, Evan Barker, Nathan Oman, Josh Ibey) and the girls 4×100 relay team finished 6th in the first heat (Crysta Coble, Kristyn Santiago, Libby Maahs, Ariana Wills).
Congratulations to the following seniors that wrapped up their Unified Track and Field careers at IU during the state meet: Matt Kiffmeyer, Nick Taulman, Ariana Wills and Jack Smith.
