On Wednesday, the Tigers Unified track team captured the Unified Track County title at Carmel HS. The Tigers earned 113 points, edging out Westfield HS in the relays to win the title by 6 points. The Tigers used speed, strength and depth in all events to win their first Unified County title. In the long jump, Anthony Bishop, Ariana Wills and Cayden Vanoverwalle finished 4th, 5th and 6th in the top flight. Colin Schooley jumped to a PR of 8-8 to place 3rd in his flight. Scoring in the shot put were Josh Ibey (4th), Leyton Dale (7th), Jack Smith (1st in his flight, PR) and Evan Barker (2nd). Scoring for the Tigers in the 100m were Sam Syrus (2nd), Josh Ibey (6th), Matt Kiffmeyer (5th), Colin Schooley (2nd, PR). In the 400m, Sam Syrus came from behind in the final 50m to beat the Carmel runner for first place in a time of 54.84. Conner Babcock placed 4th with a PR run in the first heat. Nick Taulman (2nd) and Carter Gordon (3rd) both ran PR times in the 2nd 400m heat. The girls 4×100 relay team of Kristyn Santiago, Lindsey Dale, Emerson Chapple and Ariana Wills dominated their race with a season best time of 1:06.1. The boys 4×100 relay team of Barker, Smith, Ben Bischoff and Ibey endured some last minute lineup changes to finish 2nd in a strong time of 52.9.
The Tigers will compete in the HCC Unified Meet at Franklin Central, May 11th, starting at 11am. The Tigers finish the regular season with Senior Night on May 13th against Franklin Central and Lawrence North.
