The FHS Unified Track and Field team demonstrated their overall speed and team depth as they competed against HSE on Friday during the Mudsock meet.
The Tigers had the top 5 long jump distances of the night, led by Cayden Vanoverwalle (14-1.5) and Anthony Bishop (13-6.5). Kellen Bridgeforth (10-8) and Crysta Coble (3-1) also had personal best jumps. In the shot put, the Tigers put on a great show with 2nd and 4th place finishes by Josh Ibey (43-10 PR) and Leyton Dale (38-3). Eight other Tigers set personal bests in the shot put: Jack Smith (34-5), Evan Barker (33-10), Chloe White (23-4), Dane Cochran (17-7), Brynn Bond (14-4), Colleen Davis (7-5), Sierra McKnight-Reed (6-2) and Drew Barker (31-6).
In the 100m, Sam Syrus (12.33), Josh Ibey (12.36) and Emerson Chapple (14.77) went 1-2-3. Kristyn Santiago ran a strong 16.05 to win the second heat and Lindsey Dale set a PR with a time of 18.5. In the third heat, Hannah Bischoff was dazzling with a time of 21.74 and Dane Cochran set another PR with a run of 27.44. Sam Syrus dominated the 400m with a time of 54.77, with Conner Babcock second at 1:00.5. Carter Gordon and Nick Taulman put up strong times with both runners coming in at or under 1:10. Kellen Bridgeforth’s 1:21.3 and Matt Kiffmeyer’s 1:31.2 were strong numbers in the second heat.
Both the boys (52.99) and girls (1:06.1) 4×100 relays also won their respective heats.
The Tigers compete in the Hamilton County meet on Wednesday May 1st at Carmel HS, 5:30pm. Admission is $5.
