Coed Varsity Track & Field Unified · Unified track runs strong at New Palestine

On Wednesday, the Unified Track JV team ran a strong tri-meet against New Palestine and New Castle. Cayden Vanoverwalle was the top long jumper for the meet at 14-6. Rebecca Lewis had a PR jump of 12-5.5 and Carter Gordon soared to 11-3.5. Crysta Coble, Maddie Long, Lauren Shields and Hayden Lake also performed well on the long jump. In the shot put, Alex Nolting heaved the shot 37-0.5, good for 2nd place. Drew Barker, Dane Cochran and Kathleen Tran all had PR throws of 31-4, 16-11 and 19-5 respectively. Kyle Timmerman threw a strong 22-7.5 and Ryan Kennedy had a PR throw of 6-10.5.

Luke Asquini had the 2nd best time in the 100m with 12.75. Kristyn Santiago was impressive with a 16.47 as was Rebecca Lewis with a 14.33. Hannah Bischoff, Ryan Kennedy, Lauren Shields and Colleen Davis all demonstrated their speed and determination in the 100m. In the 400m, Carter Gordon, Devin Hankins and Jacob Hay all finished under 1:16 with Hayden Lake coming in with a strong 1:34, even though that big gorilla jumped on his back at the last turn. The boys 4×100 relay team of Carter Gordon, Colin Schooley, Jacob Hay and Luke Asquini came from behind to win the event with a time of 1:02.2.

The Varsity unified team takes on HSE this Friday at home, with field events starting at 5:15. Both JV and Varsity groups will run at home on 4/29 against Zionsville and Brownsburg. The County meet will take place at Carmel, Wednesday May 1st at 5;30.
