2018 HCC Shoe Drive

*Donate shoes at the Mudsock Games on Friday and Saturday!

Students-In-Action is a service-based club at Fishers High School whose goal is to instill leadership in its members while positively impacting the community. Committees within the club run various student-led projects throughout the year, one of which is the Shoe Drive. The Shoe Drive began as an idea from a few underclassmen cross-country runners and has since spread across the entire Hoosier Crossroads Conference. This fall, Fishers High School hosted the HCC Service through Leadership Conference, where we demonstrated how to run service projects using our Shoe Drive. All eight of the conference teams are now on a mission to collect 10,000 pairs of shoes from their individual communities, with hopes of making a HHC donation of 80,000 shoes to Changing Footprints.

The project is a yearlong endeavor, focused around various events at the high school. This Friday, Fishers will be hosting Hamilton Southeastern in the annual “Mudsock” basketball game. Fans, including both students and parents, are encouraged to bring a pair of shoes to donate with them to the game. The game is just one of many attempts to bring the community together this year and will certainly continue the tradition of rivalry amongst the two neighboring high schools.

Shoe collection bins will be conveniently located around the FHS Main Gym throughout the game. Shoe donations include everything from tennis shoes and flip flops to high heels and ice skates. Shoes of any condition are accepted, too, as unusable ones are sent to be ground up into playground mulch. Please consider bringing a pair of shoes to this Friday’s Mudsock matchup!
